Being away from family is hard for many foreign students who are studying in another country. As a way to celebrate #PROUDmoments, we created a stunt to surprise a top graduate with someone from home at their graduation.
Imagine being a young student in a foreign country, achieving a dream, and not having your loved ones there to share in the joy.

That's what Merveille Mugisha experienced. A driven and ambitious student from Burundi.
Merveille was pursuing her Masters degree at the University of Pretoria. Passionate about rebuilding her country's civil society, she champions causes like democracy, gender equality, and human rights.
​
But with her family back in Burundi, Merveille faced the prospect of celebrating alone.
That's when SanlamAllianz stepped in. We surprised Merveille by flying her sister down from Burundi to attend her graduation ceremony.
It was a moment of pure joy and shared pride, a true celebration of her hard work and dedication.
